Post-Care Instructions
Days 1 – 2
The treated area will feel tight and may appear slightly darker. The day of the peel application is “Day 1.” The peel solution should remain on the treated areas for at least 6 hours. During the first 6 hours, do not wash, touch, rub, or apply make-up to the treated area. The Perfect Derma Moisturizer with 1% hydrocortisone (included in Patient Home Care Kit) may be used after 6 hours if:
- The skin feels excessively irritated
- Patient is Fitzpatrick Type 4-6 or has melasma or hyperpigmentation
- Either Perfect Derma booster was added to the peel treatment
- If you are not experiencing any irritation or discomfort, the peel solution can remain on until your evening cleansing or it may be left on overnight.
Day 2 (AM)
Gently wash and dry the treated area. Vigorously apply the 1st Post-Peel Towelette to the treated areas. Let dry thoroughly. Towelette solution should be left on for 30 minutes before applying an SPF 30 or above. Make up may be applied if desired.
Day 2 (PM)
30-60 minutes before bedtime, gently wash and dry the treated area. Vigorously apply the 2nd Post Peel Towelette to the treated areas. Leave the solution on overnight. If you are experiencing excessive irritation or discomfort, apply a small amount of The Perfect Derma Moisturizer 2-3 times daily. If there is no significant irritation, do not use any moisturizing products on the treated areas until peeling begins (usually Day 3). Avoid excessive sweating, sauna or heavy exercise during peel process.
Days 3-6
Peeling generally begins on Day 3. After peeling begins, apply The Perfect Derma Moisturizer (included in the Patient Home Care Kit) to the treated areas 2-3 times a day to control the peeling and relieve the tightness. This moisturizer should be used for 1-2 weeks for Caucasian patients and 2-3 weeks for Asian, Hispanic and African American patients. If The Perfect Derma Moisturizer runs out, a 1% hydrocortisone cream may be substituted. Do not rub, pick or pull on the peeling skin, let the peeling occur naturally. Rubbing, picking or pulling may cause scarring. Gently wash (do not scrub) and dry the treated area morning and night, and apply The Perfect Derma Moisturizer as needed. An SPF 30 or above should be applied every 2 hours during sun exposure.
Days 7 and After
The peeling process is generally complete. Mild sloughing may still be occurring in some treated areas. Continue to protect the skin with an SPF 30 or above.
Acne Patients: Day 10+
You may resume use of your normal skin care products. For active and severe acne patients, a series 3-4 The Perfect Derma Peel treatments can be done 3 – 4 weeks apart. Continue to protect the skin with an SPF 30 or above.
Pre And Post Care Instructions For HydraFacial
A HydraFacial is a facial treatment using a patented device to deliver exfoliation, cleansing, extraction, and hydration to the face. This system uses a vortex swirling action to deliver hydration and to remove dead skin, dirt, debris, and impurities while cleaning and soothing your skin.
A HydraFacial includes 4 facial treatments rolled into one session: cleansing and exfoliating, a gentle chemical peel, vacuum suction extraction, and a hydrating serum. These steps are delivered using a patented HydraFacial device (which looks like a large rolling cart with hoses and a wand with detachable heads). Unlike traditional facial treatments that can have different effects depending on your skin type and aesthetician, the HydraFacial provides consistent results and can be used on all skin types.
The cleansing, exfoliation, chemical peel, collagen building, and facial muscle relaxing provided by a HydraFacial helps treat many of the beauty issues individuals experience today, including large pores, wrinkles, breakouts, and thinning skin.
HydraFacial treatments are often used in conjunction with LED light therapy. Blue light can help with acne while red light can help reduce the visibility of wrinkles.

Pre And Post Care Instructions For CoolPeel
Pre-Care Instructions
CoolPeel and CO₂ laser treatments are cosmetic procedures performed by trained professionals to address various skin concerns, including fine lines, wrinkles, sun damage, and uneven texture. While specific pre-care instructions may vary depending on the clinic or provider, here are some general guidelines to follow before undergoing CoolPeel or CO₂ laser treatment:
- Sun exposure: Minimize sun exposure and avoid tanning beds for at least four weeks before the treatment. Excessive sun exposure can increase the risk of complications and interfere with the effectiveness of the laser treatment.
- Skincare products: Avoid using retinoids, glycolic acid, and other exfoliating agents on the treatment area for about two weeks before the procedure. These products can increase skin sensitivity and potentially cause adverse reactions during the treatment.
- Medications and supplements: Inform your healthcare provider about any medications, supplements, or herbal remedies you are currently taking. They will advise you on whether any adjustments or temporary discontinuation of certain medications or supplements are necessary.
- Shaving: If you are undergoing laser treatment on a body area with hair, such as the legs or face, your provider may ask you to shave the area a day or two before the procedure. This helps the laser target the hair follicles more effectively.
- Makeup and skincare products: On the day of the treatment, come to the clinic with a clean, makeup-free face. Avoid using any lotions, creams, or skincare products on the treatment area prior to the procedure, unless otherwise instructed by your provider.
- Avoid irritants: Refrain from using any irritants, such as perfumes, fragranced lotions, or harsh cleansers, on the treatment area before the procedure. These substances can increase skin sensitivity and potential discomfort during the treatment.
- Health considerations: Inform your provider about any underlying medical conditions, such as a history of cold sores or herpes infections. They may prescribe antiviral medication to prevent potential outbreaks triggered by the laser treatment.
- Arrange transportation: CO₂ laser treatments, in particular, may require some downtime for recovery. Depending on the intensity of the treatment, you may experience redness, swelling, and temporary changes in skin texture. Arrange for someone to drive you home after the procedure if necessary.
Remember to follow the specific instructions provided by your healthcare provider, as they may tailor the pre-care instructions based on your individual needs and the treatment plan.
Post Care Instructions
After undergoing CoolPeel or CO₂ laser treatment, it’s crucial to follow the post-care instructions provided by your healthcare provider. While specific instructions may vary depending on the intensity of the treatment and your individual needs, here are some general post-care guidelines and what you can expect after the procedure:
- Cooling and soothing: Your provider may apply a cooling gel or cream immediately after the treatment to help soothe the skin and reduce any discomfort or redness.
- Sun protection: Protecting your skin from the sun is essential during the healing process. Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher on the treated area whenever you are exposed to sunlight. It’s recommended to continue this practice for several weeks following the procedure.
- Avoid picking or scratching: It’s important to avoid picking, scratching, or rubbing the treated area to prevent infection and promote proper healing. Let any scabs or crusts that form naturally fall off on their own.
- Moisturize: Depending on your provider’s recommendations, you may be advised to apply a gentle moisturizer to keep the treated area hydrated. Choose a non-irritating, fragrance-free moisturizer and apply it as directed.
- Gentle cleansing: Cleanse the treated area with a mild, non-abrasive cleanser as instructed by your provider. Avoid using harsh or exfoliating cleansers that can irritate the healing skin.
- Avoid heat and excessive sweating: Minimize exposure to heat sources such as hot showers, saunas, or steam rooms for a few days after the treatment. Additionally, avoid activities that cause excessive sweating, as sweat can irritate the treated area.
- Limit physical activities: Depending on the intensity of the treatment, your provider may recommend avoiding strenuous activities, such as heavy workouts or lifting, for a certain period. Follow their instructions and gradually resume your regular activities as advised.
- Healing process: The healing time varies depending on the individual and the specific treatment. Initially, you may experience redness, swelling, and mild discomfort, which should gradually subside over time. It’s common for the treated area to appear pink or slightly bronzed during the healing process.
- Follow-up appointments: Your provider may schedule follow-up appointments to assess your progress, monitor healing, and address any concerns or questions you may have.
Remember that these post-care instructions are general in nature, and it’s crucial to adhere to the specific guidelines provided by your healthcare provider. They will provide you with detailed instructions tailored to your specific treatment and individual needs. If you have any unexpected or concerning symptoms or questions during the healing process, contact your provider for guidance.
